Obituary of Lawrence Joseph Lebert

With saddened hearts the family of Lawrence “Larry” Lebert announce his passing on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the age of 74. Loving husband of Marjorie Lebert (nee Keaney) for 29 years. Cherished father of David Lebert (Diane), Larry Lebert Jr. (Kim) and Tracey Lee Pelletier (Robert). Dear grandfather of Sierra Lebert, Jeremy Lebert, Zachary (Sirena) Pelletier and Marylee Pelletier, and great grandfather of Lilly, Brian, Hunter and Maggie. Larry is survived by his sister Joan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his siblings Corrine, Doug, Ron, Leah, Paul and Elizabeth, grandson Nicholas Lee Pelletier, his beloved cats Samson and Sully, and dog Max. Larry was the youngest of eight and his siblings often referred to him as the spoiled one. He had some struggles as a young man, but found recovery and forgiveness within Brentwood. His faith in God was unwavering and he made prayer and giving an everyday priority. Larry had a raucous, infectious laugh. You couldn't help but laugh with him. He took much ribbing for his continued defense of his beloved Detroit Lions. He was ecstatic and got the last laugh when "his team" made it to the NFC championship game this year. Although he was a Montreal Canadiens fan early on, he turned the corner and cheered for the Red Wings, donning his very own "Lebert 60" wings jersey that he received for a special birthday. In his younger years, he put on his captain's hat and bought a boat (or two) where he enjoyed time spent fishing on the Detroit River. After almost sinking a few times, he realized he was better off on dry land. Golf remained Larry's true passion. He looked forward to his yearly Brentwood golf outing and would seek out new courses in whatever new city he found himself. Much to the chagrin of family, he could also be found spending hours watching professional golf on television. Larry also loved to travel and would take any opportunity to visit a new location, whether it be a bus tour with his wife or a road trip to watch his grandchildren's sporting events. He delighted in being a grandfather and felt extremely blessed to also be a great-grandfather. Larry was selfless, caring and compassionate. He could often be found helping family and friends with projects or everyday tasks, sharing his life knowledge and of course praying over his loved ones. He accepted people for who they were and didn't judge. He offered his support and encouragement to those who struggled with addiction, and he wouldn't give up on those that others had written off. He strove to live his life according to God's word and his grace is a blessing to all those who have known him. Larry will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. Windsor on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 3:30pm.
