Obituary of Flora Pugliese
Surrounded by her family our dear mother, Flora Pugliese, passed peacefully on October 17, 2023. She is reunited in heaven with her husband and best friend of over 70 years Gaetano “Guy” (2019). Loving mother to three children Ralph (Marie), Tina, and Ferio (Pam). Cherished Nanna to Christina Romain (Chancie), Gaetano, Matthew, Nicholas, Nathan, and Natalya and adored “Big Nanna” to Melina and Cagan Romain. Reunited with her parents Maria and Ferruccio Buda and brother Romano (Milena) Buda. Adored by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and Italy.
Flora began her journey to Canada in 1953 arriving in Halifax Pier 21 at the tender age of 23 to begin her life with her best friend, Guy. Together, they built a successful grocery business, raised a family in Northern Ontario and became central to serving the small mining community of Kearns. They later moved to Windsor (1986) to join their children who were working and studying; there the family continued to grow with the welcomed addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The daughter of a seamstress and an artist, Flora avidly pursued and shared her own artistic passions in sewing and crafting for her family and friends. We will always cherish the memory of our mother as being the “rock” of our family bringing and keeping us close together whatever the occasion. Her caring, gentle and gracious spirit was uplifting to everyone she touched and her character will continue to inspire us all.
She will be forever in our hearts.
Deep gratitude to the 7th floor nursing staff at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan campus and to Drs. Rashed, Walters, Kennette, and Heffernan. Their commitment to our mother’s care during this difficult time will always be remembered. Many thanks to our family physician, Dr. Patrick Smith for his many years of care.
In our mother’s spirit we encourage you to make a donation to a cause or charity of your choice.
