Obituary of David Dickens

DICKENS, David Michael
July 22, 1957 - October 4, 2023
“I lived a full life.”

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dave in the
loving arms of his wife and three children, at Windsor Hospice on
Wednesday, Oct 4, 2023. He will be missed by his loving wife of 29 years,
Daniella (nee Vorkapich) and kids, Danielle (Peter Maisano), Nicole and
Kenny Dickens. Loving “Goopa” to Noah, Lily and Stella. Loving
brother-in-law to Lisa Bastian, Sonia Palleck, Mimi Prier (Aaron Stilson) and
Mark Vorkapich (Danielle). Predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Helen
Dickens, brother Fred, and in-laws Steve and Millie Vorkapich. Dear uncle to
many nieces and nephews. He will be forever remembered by all of his
family and friends.
Dave was immensely dedicated and deeply caring to his family. He was
quick-witted, fun-loving and the largest lover of life. After working at
Chrysler’s Windsor Assembly plant for over 30 years, Dave enjoyed a decade
of retirement. He loved watching Blue Jays baseball, playing cards, and most
importantly, being surrounded by his family.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at WRH Cancer
Centre — especially Dr’s Liebman, Kanjeekal, Aoun, Hirmiz and Nasser. A
heartfelt thank you to the staff and Drs. at Windsor Hospice, Drs. Bergeron,
Valcke and Veinberg, for the care that Dave was provided on his last day of
life. A special thank you to Tawni Bali for her unwavering support over the
past few years.
Donations in Dave’s memory to Windsor Hospice would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home - Central Chapel
1700 Tecumseh Road East, (519-253-7234) on Tuesday, October 10, 2023
from 2-5pm & 7-9pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, October 11,
2023 from 10am until the time of Chapel Service at 11am. Interment to
follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences and
