Obituary of Duro Shekhu

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Duro Shehu on Thursday October 5th 2023 at the age of 96 years. Loving and caring father to daughter Elvira Yakoub and husband Bahaaeldin Yakoub, and daughter Ariana Shehu. He is ever to be remembered by his four beautiful grandchildren Donika Yakoub, Doruntina Yakoub, Valbona Yakoub, and Vincent Pinkenburg.

An accomplished author and World War II veteran, Duro loved writing and reading Albanian poetry, and sharing stories with his family. His memory will be cherished and lives on through his art, loved ones, and all those who have had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Central) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East on Thursday October 5th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Funeral procession will begin at 1 pm on Friday October 6th at the Windsor Mosque (1320 Northwood St.) to his final resting place at Windsor Memorial Gardens (1100 Division Rd.).
