Obituary of Robert Hermidas Gagnon

The family of Robert (Bob) Gagnon are saddened to announce his passing on September 1, 2023. Predeceased by his parents Phil and Delaurie Gagnon, as well as 9 brothers and sisters, Bob is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Joanne. Father to Brian (Dianne), Randy, Rick (Cindy) and Bobbi Holte (David Ehrenworth), grandfather to Christina Polok (Krzysztof), Rob, James, Randi-Lynn, Daniel (Sam), Sydnie and Samuel Holte and great grandfather to nine, his legacy will live on.

Bob began his apprenticeship as an electrician with Tucker Electric in 1953 and spent 37 years with Moncur Electric. He was a proud member of the IBEW Local 773 for 70 years. There was absolutely nothing that Bob couldn’t build or fix and watching his clever mind at work was truly amazing. He was happiest outside, spending evenings and weekends completing projects in his yard and workshop or tending to his garden. He also loved his September wine making ritual, sometimes to the dismay of Joanne given the odd exploding wine barrel. Later in life he enjoyed spending summers at Campers Cove, riding his bike around the campground; most evenings Bob and Joanne’s fire pit was the central meeting place for friends and family. They couldn’t wait for annual camp opening.

A private gathering to say goodbye to Bob was held on September 2nd. At his request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
