Obituary of Panagiotis Bastounis
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Peter “Panagiotis” Bastounis fell asleep in the Lord on July 2, 2023, age 83. He leaves behind his wife Koulla of 52 years, daughters Eleni and Troada, sons-in-laws Basil and Grant, grandchildren, Alexi, Theodore, Maximos, Gregory and Daphne. He was born March 24, 1940 in Athikia, Greece. Peter immigrated to Manitoba in 1960 and became a licensed welder. He moved to Windsor with his wife and worked at Chrysler and GM as a skilled tradesman, retiring in 2005. He travelled extensively including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, the Caribbean, Greece as well as regular visits to his wife’s native Cyprus. He proudly tended his abundant garden, and cultivated and grafted fruit and nut bearing trees on his property. Without question, his greatest joy was his five grandchildren who he loved and spoiled profusely. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at hospice for the extraordinary care they gave to Peter. They would also like to thank the family and friends who came to visit and give support. A visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. 519-253-7236 on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 4pm – 7pm. Visitation will resume at St. John the Divine (1094 Drouillard Rd), on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 10:15 am until the time of the service at 11am. Interment at Windsor Memorial Gardens. In memory of Peter, donations can be made to “Transition to Betterness (T2B)” or “St. John the Divine”. Online condolences and cherished memories can be shared at www.windsorchapel.com
