Obituary of Angelo Serra

Angelo Serra
August 4, 1946- June 7, 2023

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Dear husband of Diane (Meloche) Serra of 46 years and loving father of Adrienne (Guy Ouellette) and Amanda (Paul Kühn). Precious Nonno to three grandchildren who he adored, Emma, Sophie, and Scout.
Son of Filippo and Marianna (Morelli) Serra, brother of the late Tony (Anna) Serra, Maria (late Giuseppe) Valente, Michelina (late Silvestro) Arpino, the late Mario (Julie) Serra, the late Gina Serra, Rosa (late Silvestro) Fortuna, the late Peppino Serra, and Gerry (Angela) Serra.  Brother-in-law of Carol (Ron) Mayville and the late Susan Meloche.  He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Angelo immigrated from Sant’Elia, Italy to Croydon, England to live with his sister Maria, brother-in-law Giuseppe, and niece Antoinette, in 1966.  In 1970, he came to Canada where his sister Michelina and brother-in-law Silvestro welcomed him with open arms. They later included Angelo and his family as their own, to celebrate every occasion with their immediate family; Joe, Tony (Kathy), Marianna (Steve), Samantha (Trevor), Joann (Joe), Spencer (Michelle), Maria, Eden, and Elle.
For 44 years, Angelo and his family lived on Regis Avenue, in Forest Glade.  They shared many beautiful memories with neighbours who were more like family, namely Tony, Ann, Paula, Tina (Michael), Travis, Aleah, and Jax.
Angelo was a hairdresser and manager of The Golden Razor for more than a decade, where he met his future wife, Diane Meloche. He later worked at the Windsor Salt Mine, where he was a dedicated employee for 23 years, retiring in 2011.
Angelo had a strong passion and dedication for everything he did.  He played a great game of golf for many years, where he met his well-respected friend Pat Palombo.  He designed and cultivated a beautiful garden in his backyard (as well as both of his daughters’ yards), producing an abundance of flowers and vegetables, which he prepared with pride for his family.
Until almost the very end, Angelo enjoyed his first and favourite sport, billiards, at Life After Fifty (LAF), where he met many new friends, especially Ray Armstrong, who showed him compassion during difficult times and who gave him a great challenge on the snooker table.
Angelo’s family would like to thank the Bayshore nurses, and Dr. Freeman from Hospice for their care and attention.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Life After Fifty” or “IRIS Residential Inns and Services”.
