Obituary of Sonja Helen Dawybida

DAWYBIDA, Sonja (Nee Kalushka) March 12, 1025 - March 15, 2008 After a lengthy illness Sonja passed away in peace on March 15, 2008 at 83 years of age. Loving aunt of Debbie and Stan Mosek, and children Tammy, Vanessa, Jon, and wife Carmen of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; Tim and Kathy Kalushka, and children Melanie and Justin of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Marian and Cecil Conley, daughter Laci of Brandon, Manitoba; Ivanna Joan Nimchuk of Windsor Ontario, and Michael Nimchuk of Brantford Ontario. Dear cousin of Elsie and John Prokopiw and Sonja LeBlanc. Sonja was predeceased by her son Zenon Dawybida, parents Varvara and Peter Kalushka, and brother Maurice and sister-in-law Victoria Kalushka. Sonja will be sadly missed by family and friends across Canada and the United States "Ida and Jim Butterfield and son Danny; Petra Mihajlovic; Goldie Golden; Joan Pashkowski; John Lucas; Florence and John Shewchuk and son Glen; and Mary Ruta. Her love and advice will be a great loss to friend Curtis. Sonja was born in Tolstoi, Manitoba on March 12, 1925. She was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church during her life in Manitoba and Ontario, and was a member of the Ukrainian Women"s Association of Canada, Lesia Ukrainka Branch, Windsor, Ontario. She served as a tireless volunteer in support of her parish " especially at Wednesday Pyrohy Sales. Sonja lived in Dearborn, Michigan for twenty-three years, was a hairdresser and an avid bingo player. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. Panakhyda Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Very Rev. Pawlo Berezniak and dear friend Very Rev. Michael Skrumeda officiating. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
