Obituary of Silvio Papa
PAPA, Silvio It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a loving Father, Husband and Nonno on July 26, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Husband to Teresa (nee Marra). Loving father to Rosa Papa, Josie Saunders, Tony Papa and wife Rosanna. Cherished Nonno to Jordano and Carla. Dear brother to Adelaide LaPosta and late husband Nino, Clara Faroni and husband Robert. Predeceased by parents Giuseppe and Felicia Papa, sister Pierina Ferrera and husband Angelo, brother Alfio Papa and surviving wife Bernice. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Silvio was a retired employee of the Windsor Salt Mine after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a long standing member of Le Reduci Combattendi, Sante Nome and Ciociaro Club of Windsor. He was the founder of the Figli D'Italia Veteran's Club and S.S. Italia Soccer Club. Silvio was a trailblazer amongst his peers that immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950's. He became part of a well known group of proud Italians that could be called upon to fight for human rights, equality and justice. His passion was to assist fellow countrymen as they carved a life in their new homeland. While taking a great deal of pride in helping others, Silvio also found time to enjoy hunting, gardening and his well known wine making. Through all of this however, his greatest love always remained his family. Visitiation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd.
