Obituary of John Taisto Saastamoinen (Saasto)

Born in Finland, on February 12, 1940, John passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, with the comfort of his beloved bible in hand, on September 1, 2018. He is reunited with his cherished parents, Reino and Irja, his brother, Ray and niece Jennifer St. Louis. Lovingly remembered by his brother Peter and wife Joyce. John leaves behind his nephew, Dana (Hillary), nephew-in-law, Tom and nieces, Sonya (Jim), Jody (Steve), and Christine. Growing up, John was quite the athlete, but he especially loved soccer. John"s early years were spent in Windsor working alongside his father as a watchmaker, and later as a draftsman. John spent the rest of his life in London, Ontario. He was exceptionally proud of his Finnish heritage and his upbringing as a Christian. John spent many hours speaking to his mother by phone discussing their shared Christian beliefs and life itself. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord through the Pentecostal Faith. A special thank you to McGarrell Place and the medical staff at Victoria Hospital in London for their care and compassion for John throughout the years. Visitation to be held at Parkwood Gospel Temple, 3005 Temple Drive, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10am until the time of John"s Funeral Service at 11am. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 519-253-7234.
