Obituary of Teresa Liburdi (née Rinaldi)

With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Teresa Liburdi (née Rinaldi), a devoted mother, cherished nonna, beloved sister, sister-in-law, zia, and dear friend. Teresa passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on January 5, 1941, in Ceccano, Frosinone, Italy, Teresa built a life rooted in love, family, hard work, and generosity. Her warmth, strength, and caring nature touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Teresa was the beloved daughter of the late Federico and Natalina Rinaldi and was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Luciano D’Annibale, and her cherished niece, Enza Cristofanilli.

She leaves behind her loving children: Roberta, Sandro (Rosa), and Mario (Deana) Liburdi. Nothing brought Teresa greater joy than her grandchildren, Frank, Sylvia (Brett) Pavelich, Andrew (Sofia), Christina Liburdi, Talia and Ottavio Liburdi. She was immensely proud of each of them and treasured every moment spent together. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Michael Rinaldi and Luigi (Louisa) Rinaldi, as well as her sisters in Italy, Franca D’Annibale and Lorenza (Romualdo) Cristofanilli.

Before dedicating herself fully to her family, Teresa worked as a nurse assistant at a children’s hospital in Rome, Italy. Her compassion, patience, and nurturing spirit brought comfort to countless children and families. Yet, above all else, her greatest pride and purpose in life was being a mother and nonna.

Teresa found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking and baking, sharing meals that brought family and friends together around her table. She enjoyed long walks, dancing, listening to Italian music, tending to her garden, and preserving the fruits of her labour through canning. She loved taking photographs and capturing precious family memories. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always welcoming.

Teresa’s life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, faith, and devotion to family. While her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so freely. She will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever remembered.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at The Village of Aspen Lake, especially those in the LaSalle neighbourhood, for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided throughout Teresa’s journey.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel - Banwell Location (11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, Windsor, ON) on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 2 pm - 5 pm & 7 pm - 9 pm.
