Obituary of Lino P. Catroppa
Lino Pasquale Catroppa
It is with deep sadness that we announce Lino’s passing on April 30th, 2026 at the age of 83 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his love and best friend, Margaret, along with their children Eugenia, Emily (Ritchie), and Olivia. Loving son of the late Eugenia and Nino Catroppa, and loyal brother to the late Mario, Vincenzo, Carmelina, and to Mafalda, Luigi and Alfio Catroppa (all of Rome). Adored Nonno to Lina and Hanna and cherished uncle to many nephews and nieces both in Italy and North America.
Hailing from Italy, Lino was a master restaurateur having begun his gastronomic journey in Rome and Yorkshire, and ultimately settling in Windsor, Ontario. He was a devoted father and dedicated his free time to his family. An orator, and a true gentleman, Lino had an ability to speak in such a way that could paint a picture with words. He considered it a rare privilege to share his love of fine dining and expertise with his colleagues, friends and customers at The Cook’s Shop and The Pasta Shop for over forty years. Previously, he enjoyed his time as manager at Beach Grove Golf and Country Club, Cinecittà (Rome) and many other establishments in Rome, England and Windsor, where he continuously honed his skills in the culinary arts. His generosity, kindness, and spirit will forever leave a lasting impression on those who knew him and his beautiful smile will be deeply missed but cherished in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Prayers Monday evening at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then to St Angela Merici Church, 980 Louis Avenue for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation and private family internment to follow.
