Obituary of Josef Ruttinger
Josef Ruttinger passed away peacefully in Windsor on June 7, 2025, at the age of 93 years, surrounded by his family. Survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Anna. Loving father of Heidi Ruttinger (Jim) and Will Ruttinger (Katherine). Josef was the caring and proud Opa to Emily (Ben), Paul, Eric, Stephanie Prochazka (Paul), Andrew (Natalie), and Michael (Sydney), as well as the delighted great-grandfather of Josephine Prochazka.
Josef grew up in Heinsheim, Germany and would regale us with stories of many (mis)adventures in his youth. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and brother in 1950. Soon after, he began employment at SKD Mfg. where he apprenticed and became a toolmaker. He was an integral part of the Die Repair department for over 40 years.
Josef prided himself on working hard and providing for his family. He was a handyman extraordinaire and could fix, rig, or jig anything. As an avid gardener, he enjoyed many hours planning, caring for, and sharing his harvest. Josef was fiercely proud of his German heritage and loved to watch Die Mannschaft play Fussball. He was also a very proud Opa who enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Josie.
